The motorbikes are arriving and the dust is rising!
The greatest Motocross riders across Africa are currently descending on Gabz because there is a huge event this weekend. It is the biggest event of its kind in Africa: the FIM Motocross of African Nations 2017. So make sure not to miss the action!
There will be motorbike races galore. There is a mixture of competitors, from little 5 year old kids to the big boys of Botswana. And if they can handle the noise, it’ll be a super fun activity for bigger kids to watch. Go shout for our country. But be warned this will be a dusty and very loud experience!
Gates open at 7 am on Saturday but the serious action is from lunch time and all of Sunday. During the event, no outside food/drinks or cooler boxes will be allowed in but there will be food stalls.
Top Family Gems Tip: bring your own chairs. Grand stands have been put up but avoid standing and bring your own seating.
Tickets at the gate are P50 for general entry or P200 for pit access. Tickets are also available at Pick n Pay Sebele.
Directions: From Gaborone follow the A1 towards Phakalane. Drive straight on past the Phakalane robots and take the next robots right (road to Oodi). Immediately after you cross the railway line you will see a dirt road on your left. Turn left. Follow the dirt road for approximately 1 km and you will see a sign that says MX track on the power line pole. Then turn right and follow the road directly to the track.
