If you have a tot at home, you’ll know that they are determined scientists, adventurers and insatiable consumers of sensory experiences.
It can be hard to think of activities for them to do at home and you may be thinking that they are at an age where they need to practice their independence and make new friends.
SensoBaby: Parenting and Play in Maru-A-Pula
SensoBaby opened its doors over two years ago with the mandate being to nurture the joy and wonder of family and play through classes, workshops and events. We host weekly “parent and baby” classes for different age groups that let kids learn, explore, get messy, and meet peers – – and for caregivers to have precious bonding time with the child through shared experiences.
This term, SensoBaby is running a SensoTot class for 2.5 – 4 year olds. It is a programme filled with action and activities for young children to learn and grow through play.
Why Should You Consider SensoTot?
Maybe you are considering putting your child into pre-school but want to try them out in a small group first. Or perhaps your little one is in school in the mornings but needs something more to keep them stimulated and entertained. This is the class for you!
At SensoBaby, we always consider the holistic development of young children. This means that as well as being guided by standard learning outcomes for this age group, we also focus on the child’s wellbeing by fostering a sense of agency, a feel of belonging, a taste of independence and exploring important values.
Sessions are designed by experts in early childhood education and mental health and wellness and facilitated by SensoBaby teachers.
What Will Tots Do In A Class?
The SensoTot class:
- Develops fine and gross motor skills
- Helps children understand the world through action and experience
- Enhances social and emotional skills
- Promotes cognitive development
- Stimulates creativity and imagination
- Promotes independence and agency
- Teaches values
The SensoBaby Community is wonderful to be part of. Your child gains friendships, experiences and independence….and so do you! It’s a great place to get to know other parents and chat about your experiences and concerns.
We don’t believe that young children should be over stimulated or over engaged in extra curricular activities, so that is why we have put together a programme that incorporates a wide variety of experiences so you don’t have to pick between options!
Classes always include play in the fresh air of an outdoor space which is essential for child development; art, craft, cooking, sensory play and action play will also be part of the sessions.
We are proud to have partnered with the USA Embassy Recreation Centre, which means some of our classes will be held there for a change of scenery to keep your little ones engaged.
