I’ve been on the hunt for an exceptional pedicure experience in Gaborone for a while. I’ve had a few nice ones, but I’ve not found the perfect one…. that is until today! In my opinion I’ve found the unequivocal best place in Gaborone for a luxury pedicure and it is at the Chelsea NYC Salon in Game City.
My criteria for a great pedicure:
1. Clean facilities and tools
2. Massage chairs with whirlpool foot basins
3. Great selection of high quality nail polish
4. Attention to detail
5. Amazing exfoliation – scrub, filing, and/or paraffin
My Experience
Today, I popped in with a friend for some Mamas’ Time Out to try out the Chelsea NYC Salon. First impressions – this place is incredibly clean and polished. It recently opened for business in Game City in November 2017. As the name indicates, it is a ‘chain’ salon hailing from NYC (New York City).
Upon arrival, we were greeted immediately by friendly, helpful staff. We decided on a luxe pedicure instead of the express. The luxe includes “enchanting crystals” in the foot basin that help exfoliate dead skin cells. It also comes with a luxury “vitamin E butter” foot/leg massage. The express is a regular pedicure with a sugar scrub only.
Once we decided on our service, we were given the option to choose between OPI and Essie polishes. You can get gel nail polish as an upgrade. We were then led to our pedicure stations complete with massage chair and whirlpool foot basins. The chairs can recline and you can customize your massage with the remote.
There is a great cubby for your purse, a basket for your shoes. There’s also a charging cable with a ‘ponytail’ of various charging cables so you can charge your phone.
We could order something to eat or drink, but we had come from Café Dijo and decided not to partake of this offer. If you should want to have a meal or drink from Mugg and Bean, you place your order, the staff will deliver it to you. Your food/drink is added to your total bill! This is 5* service for sure! There is even a little table on a swivel that you can use to bring your food/drink closer to your lap.
Next, we were offered the free WiFi code so we could stay connected to our mobile devices without using up precious mobile data! We were in 7th heaven enjoying all these amenities! We sat back and enjoyed ourselves. The end result was amazing. My feet were filed smooth and my polish was painted to perfection. I upgraded for an extra P30 to have a quick-dry topcoat added to my pedicure. You never know when you’ll scuff up the fresh paint running off to collect the kids!
As my pedicure was wrapping up, I decided to also add on an eyebrow wax. I was brought to a comfy table/bed in a private room for this service. The beauty technician did a fabulous job! Everything was very comfortable and clean, and the service was great. I was asked both by the nail and the eyebrow technician if everything was to my liking and I had no complaints!
Options for the Family
Additionally, they have Mommy & Me mani/pedi services for children age 10 and up. As well as individual services for your ‘prince or princess’ (also age 10 and up). Gentleman will not feel out of place as there is an entire menu of services for them as well!
The last two aspects I want to mention are: 1) There are 7 pedicure stations and 4 manicure stations. So you and your best gals (or guys) could book services at the same time. 2) We just walked in – no appointment necessary! Being able to walk-in is an amazing luxury. Especially when you decide on a whim to get a pedicure or some spontaneous self-care after a hectic day/morning with your family. However, the salon is busier in the afternoons and evenings so you will want to call for a booking if you don’t want to wait.
