The school holidays might be long, but the days will fly by if you’ve got engaging activities planned for you and your little ones. Here’s a round-up of ideas that you and your family can do in the countdown to Christmas.
Tuesday December 18: Build a Snowman
On these hot summer days, sometimes it’s nice to conjure up a bit of cold. Keep the kids busy while you make snowmen. Draw out the outline of a snowman on white paper and let the kids make faces as they dress and decorate their snowmen. Buttons and glue, stickers, or even just crayons is all you need to let them show off their creative side.

Sunday December 23: Be a Kindness Elf
As an antidote to the ‘Elf on the Shelf’ Craze, the Kindness Elves were created to encourage families to engage in random acts of kindness and instil the value of kindness in your children. Consider being a Kindness Elf today and just do something special and random for someone else.
Monday December 24: Picnic with the Monkeys
Why not start a new local tradition and spend Christmas Eve with the animals? The Gaborone Game Reserve reopened a couple of months back. There’s no shortage of fun when you take the children for a game drive and picnic in the park. Remember though… the monkeys can be nuts! Don’t get too close and make sure to protect your food and close your car windows. You don’t need to book to visit it on Monday, but you do need to pre-book if you decide to go on Christmas Day or Boxing Day.
