Growing up cereal was a “breakfast thing”. My Mum wasn’t really the cereal treats kind of person. She is, however, the meanest baker I know. I definitely got that skill from her.
At a point in my life, I became slightly intolerant to lactose and didn’t really enjoy the taste of alternative dairy-free kinds of milk. I still very much enjoyed cornflakes, but couldn’t bare having them with milk, so the “cornflakes treats” were born.
I guess my stomach was strong enough for a small component of dairy (within the butter) but not raw milk. Granted, I’m not the original creator of these, but I hope you enjoy my spin to them.
(As always, thank you Bokomo Botswana for helping bring you these recipes.)
Ingredients Yield: 9 treats

5 tbs cocoa powder
⅓ cup butter (melted)
¼ cup golden syrup
1 ½ cup of Bokomo cornflakes
Method
Into a medium-sized bowl, add cocoa powder and melted butter. Mix thoroughly.
When well combined, add the golden syrup and mix until all the ingredients are well incorporated.
Add cornflakes in the bowl and mix until each flake is well covered. Don’t worry about some of them breaking, it’s perfectly normal.
Once that’s done, line your small baking tray or any freezer-friendly container with foil or parchment paper, for less clean- up time.

Use your ⅓ measuring cup to scoop out the cornflakes mixture.
Pop your treats in the freezer for 45mins to 1hour and voila, there you have it.
Notes
For extra “chocolatey-chocolateness”, melt 1 cup of dark chocolate and add ⅓ cup of coconut oil and dip your treats in the mixture. Place them in the freezer and enjoy.
