My Cotton Tree was founded in South Africa in November 2017 by Sharika Punwasi. “When my son was born I started looking for luxurious cotton clothing that was stylish, soft, and would keep my baby comfortable for the day. I looked online for outfits that were unique, stylish and affordable. I found “unique and stylish” but certainly not affordable” says Sharika.
The design team is South African, while the manufacturing is done in Mauritus. The female-led factory specialises in kids clothing and has worked closely with many South African brands like Naartjie, Earth-Child, Foschini kids and European brands like Orchestra from France and Sacoor Kids from Portugal. This factory has the most luxurious cotton, sourced from sustainable cotton mills in Mauritius. The factory is very conscious of fabric wastage to the extent that all off-cut fabric is used to make soft toys for kids and distributed in Mauritius.
Now, through a mutual drive to bring well-designed, stylish and comfortable clothes to children, My Cotton Tree Botswana has formed. We’re bringing these gorgeous children’s clothes to Batswana through pop-up stalls at family events, farmers markets, high teas and more. We’re stocking both boys and girls items in sizes 2-12.
