Camp Botswana is an educational, fun and exciting activity camp for children aged 7 – 14 years. Their activities include archery, swimming, paintball, arts and crafts, fun workshops, outdoor cooking and anything else fun we can think of. Their aim is to give children the opportunity to try new activities in a safe environment. School holiday camps are run every school holiday and they are open to everyone.
Camp Botswana is run by Avril and Tjipo who have many years of experience working with children. They also work with teachers and trained mentors who help run the activities.
The camps are fun and they also teach life skills, helping with confidence, resilience and independence. It is the ultimate adventure experience for every school child.
Camping
This is often a first for many of our campers. They work very hard to make this experience with nature an enjoyable and memorable one. Campers pair up and there are tent inspections after breakfast.
Camp Botswana Games
Camp Botswana offers board games and traditional Botswana games.
Boat Cruises
They offer boat cruises along the Thamalakane River! The scenery is great with hippo sightings. Makes for a great experience for all campers.
Write Stuff
This is a writing workshop hosted by Bonty, an award winning children’s author. The campers develop their writing skills in a fun and interactive way. Bonty uses traditional stories to guide the art of story-telling.
Outdoor Cooking
Camp Botswana campers get the chance to learn how to collect firewood, make their own fire and cook. This is done outside without using pots. It’s a very popular activity and they get to eat whatever they cook!
Arts And Crafts
Tjipo leads this activity, campers get to be creative. They create wonderful pieces of art often taking the whole week to complete. And worth it in the end.
Horseback Riding
An absolute favorite at Camp Botswana! Campers ride across Maun, often spotting smaller animals along their travels. The session is suitable for beginners as well as advanced riders. Their horse expert matches them to the right horse.
Game Safaris
Campers get to go on safari into the Moremi Game Reserve, they get to see elephants, buffalo and lions.
Sports
The sports program covers many sports including soccer matches. They also have volleyball, tennis, or one that the campers make up themselves!
Leadership Skills
Campers get to lead a group. It may see them in charge of starting the fire or organizing presentations of work. Fantastic for growing leaders.
Team Building
Designed to challenge campers’ problem solving. These are suitable for older campers to help in everyday life problems.
Entrepreneurship
Older campers explore career choices and starting businesses. They design action plans for businesses and develop a tangible model.
Camp Fire
The final night at camp is our famous marshmallow camp fire night. Campers sing, dance and tell around a bonfire built by the campers themselves. They also get to roast marshmallows and this makes it an even more memorable night.
