Camp Botswana is an educational, fun and exciting activity camp for children aged 7 – 14 years. Their activities include archery, swimming, paintball, arts and crafts, fun workshops, outdoor cooking and anything else fun we can think of. Their aim is to give children the opportunity to try new activities in a safe environment. School holiday camps are run every school holiday and they are open to everyone.

Camp Botswana is run by Avril and Tjipo who have many years of experience working with children. They also work with teachers and trained mentors who help run the activities.

The camps are fun and they also teach life skills, helping with confidence, resilience and independence. It is the ultimate adventure experience for every school child.

Camping

This is often a first for many of our campers. They work very hard to make this experience with nature an enjoyable and memorable one. Campers pair up and there are tent inspections after breakfast.

Camp Botswana Games

Camp Botswana offers board games and traditional Botswana games.

Boat Cruises

They offer boat cruises along the Thamalakane River! The scenery is great with hippo sightings. Makes for a great experience for all campers.

Write Stuff

This is a writing workshop hosted by Bonty, an award winning children’s author. The campers develop their writing skills in a fun and interactive way. Bonty uses traditional stories to guide the art of story-telling.

Outdoor Cooking

Camp Botswana campers get the chance to learn how to collect firewood, make their own fire and cook. This is done outside without using pots. It’s a very popular activity and they get to eat whatever they cook!

Arts And Crafts

Tjipo leads this activity, campers get to be creative. They create wonderful pieces of art often taking the whole week to complete. And worth it in the end.

Horseback Riding

An absolute favorite at Camp Botswana! Campers ride across Maun, often spotting smaller animals along their travels. The session is suitable for beginners as well as advanced riders. Their horse expert matches them to the right horse.

Game Safaris

Campers get to go on safari into the Moremi Game Reserve, they get to see elephants, buffalo and lions.

Sports

The sports program covers many sports including soccer matches. They also have volleyball, tennis, or one that the campers make up themselves!

Leadership Skills

Campers get to lead a group. It may see them in charge of starting the fire or organizing presentations of work. Fantastic for growing leaders.

Team Building

Designed to challenge campers’ problem solving. These are suitable for older campers to help in everyday life problems.

Entrepreneurship

Older campers explore career choices and starting businesses. They design action plans for businesses and develop a tangible model.

Camp Fire

The final night at camp is our famous marshmallow camp fire night. Campers sing, dance and tell around a bonfire built by the campers themselves. They also get to roast marshmallows and this makes it an even more memorable night.

Q Do the children sleep over?

Yes! This is a residential camping trip and that is the big part of the fun. They spend 4 days, 3 nights camping and provide all the necessary equipment. It is ideal for children who have never camped before

Q How safe is it?

Very safe! There is always 24-hour security and all their staff have been trained in child welfare. Most staff are either teachers or work in schools and everyone has a background check.

This has to be Botswana's best Kids Camp, It's awesome!!

5/ 5

Camp Botswana does everything that it says it does. My kids attended in 2017 and have been going back every year since. They love the different variety of activities, especially paintball, the food is fantastic and they love the fact that they make new friends every time they go. We would highly recommend this camp and we consider it is one of Botswana’s hidden gems.
