For bird watchers, the reserve is a paradise with a variety of bird species to admire, including the iconic Hornbill known for its curious nature, sometimes even tapping on car mirrors as if to say hello.
Positives
One of the most remarkable features of the Gaborone Game Reserve is its accessibility. Unlike many game reserves that require a sturdy 4×4 vehicle to navigate rough terrains, here, you can venture through the reserve’s paths with a standard car, making it an inviting destination for all.
Negatives
Sadly there has been earth works in the reserve and there is now odd cement things throughout. The picnic areas need some love and money spent. Remember to watch out for those pesky monkeys.
Important to Note: The Gaborone Game Reserve has grown in popularity, becoming a cherished spot for locals and visitors alike. To ensure your spot, especially if you plan to visit on a bustling Saturday or Sunday, prior booking is essential. (Although on occasion they will still let you in.)
