Nubian Seed is a metaphor used as an expression of Africa’s wealth in heritage and resources. Historically, Nubia was a region along the Nile River in what is today modern-day northern Sudan and southern Egypt, which dates back to as early as 5000BC. Nubia was the birthplace of one of Africa’s earliest and most powerful kingdoms, and its significance in the history of an ancient civilization cannot be understated. Known for its deposits of gold and art, Nubia was also a pivotal trade route for Egypt, providing access to luxury items such as ebony, ivory and incense.
Today, ‘Nubian’ is often used to loosely refer to anything of or relating to ‘black culture’, but our use of the name pays homage to the actual ancient kingdom of Nubia.
The ‘Seed’ in Nubian Seed communicates the origins of our product offerings (natural oils and butters indigenous to the African continent), communicating authenticity and creating a conscious connection between plant life and heritage. A seed represents a source, a beginning, and…..life.
