Where did the year go?! The 2017 school year is almost over.
The festive season is always fun and exciting… but how do you keep children busy and engaged over such a long school break?
Fortunately there are a few holiday programmes in Gaborone available to help. Here’s a roundup of the ones that we’ve come across.
Bala After School
Baobab School, Phase 2
Bala is offering an festive Holiday School from 08:00 – 12:30. There will be lots of fun activities includes a Xmas party, crafts and cooking. From ages 3-13; contact +267 7565 4759 for more information. P500 per week.
Cinderella Preschool & Daycare
Partial & Broadhurst Locations
Cinderella is known for having great outdoor play spaces. Though we don’t have details on specific activities, we would expect them to be offering their usual range of fun and educational activities for kids. Playgrounds, jumping castles, arts and crafts, and more are all on offer. P80 for a half day (07:00 – 13:00) or P100 for full day (07:00-17:00). To register contact Cinderella on 390 4975.
Dibini
Northside Primary School
Dibini’s holiday programme is one of the best around! Comprised of arts & crafts, games, sports, reading stories and of course dance, every child that goes enjoys the playtime with friends. Suitable for ages 3-8. Cost: P600 per week. Times: 07:30 – 13:00. For more details contact Sanne at +267 7710 3628.

Baking Classes For Children
with Firoza in Broadhurst
Baking is such a fantastic way to expose children to maths and science in a fun way that also fosters a love of food. In these summer workshops your children will get to learn the art of baking and decorating cupcakes, making chocolate pizza, and even helping to make doughnuts. The cost is P275 for the three days, which includes all materials and your child will get to take home their prized results!

Hazellwood Arts & Crafts Store
Middlestar Mall
Okay so this isn’t a holiday programme in the regular sense, but Hazellwood is offering a series of workshops for older children (8+) over the school holiday break. Booking is essential; costs vary depending on the class and a deposit is required to book your place.
- 12-14 December: Children’s Plaster Carving (9:30-12:30)
- 15 December: Children’s Paper Marbling (9:30-12:30)
- 19 December: Children’s Tea Bag Folding (9:30-11:30)
- 20 December: Children’s Stepping Stones (9:30-11:30)
- 3-5 January: Children’s Mosaic (9:30-12:30)
- 9-11 January: Children’s Decoupage (9:30-12:30)
- 12 January: Children’s Card Making (9:30-12:30)

Jack and Jill Nursery School
Phase 2
Iris and the team at Jack and Jill will be offering a holiday program for 3 weeks. Expect arts & crafts, baking, fine motor, gross motor, and messy play activities each day. The cost is P100 per day, which will keep your preschoolers busy from 08:00 – 13:00. Children from any school (or stay at homes!) are welcome. Phone 392 3241 to book!
The dates and themes are:
- 11-15 December: Fun Christmassy things… boots, Father Christmases, angels, reindeer, bells and letters to Santa…
- 8-12 January: Jungle Animals… snakes, animal masks, clay animals, games and plenty of stories.
Kings Camp
Northside Primary School
Kings Camp returns to Northside Primary School for an action packed week full of fun games, activities and of course lots of sports. Their coaching team is made up of sports coaches, teachers, kids holiday coaches and recently qualified students, meaning that they’ll have a brilliant programme this year to ensure that your children will receive the best care possible whilst on camp.
For children with a passion for soccer or dance, they run special programmes in the mornings which get children engaged in these activities and in the afternoon they join the rest of the camp for team sports and activities.

OT 4 Kidz Holiday Program
Village
It’s a bit pricier than other programs, but we’ve heard great things about the OT 4 Kidz holiday camps. Children are exposed to a wide variety of age-appropriate developmental play supervised by an Occupational Therapist. Expect lots of activities to help with gross and fine motor skills, cognitive development, and social growth. Register by contacting Rose at 391 8812.
