Term 1 of 2018 is already coming to a close, so the Easter school holidays are upon us already! Parents are wondering how to keep their children busy and engaged over the next few weeks. Many nursery schools and local businesses are offering holiday programmes to keep your kids busy and entertained.

Artistic Minds Academy

Super Kids Camp is a holiday activity program designed to give your child a memorable fun filled time while schools are closed. Their six session categories include Dance, Arts & Crafts, Active Games, Dramatised story telling, Cooking, and Science and Technology. We enrich your child’s school break and expose them to their hidden gifts. It’s a full-day programme from 7:30am – 4:30pm and costs P130/day or P500/week.

Bala will once again be offering a holiday camp through the first three weeks of holidays. They take children from ages 3-13, so it’s a great option for Primary School Students. Classes are from 8am – 12:30pm each day and you can expect lots of fun, experiments, and innovation. The cost is P500/week.

Maru-a-Pula
16th-27th April
Dipeo in Maru-a-pula is open for the first 2 weeks of holidays, Monday to Friday from 7:30am – 12pm. The cost is P50 per day. They will take in children from any nursery school and older siblings are able to join too. On offer are lots of fun arts and crafts each day and a baking activity per week.

Writers Club
16th-20th April and 7th-11 May
The writers club is for 5 mornings from 9am-12pm. This one is for kids who are 8 years plus. Write illustrate and publish. P1250 for the week. This includes a published copy of your childs own book. Booking is essential.
Glee Camp
30th April-4th May
Glee camp is for those kids who like a splash of the dramatic. It is for kids aged 5 and up. It involves singing dancing and drama games. These all build to a final performance.

InPlay Botswana

Holiday Sessions (Tuesday-Friday)
If your kids are bored over the holidays you can drop them off at InPlay. The ECE-trained floor supervisors will look after them and provide lunch. They offer a morning session from 9:30am-1pm or an afternoon one from 1pm-5pm. The price is P350 for either session. If you book 3 in a week the cost drops to P295/session. The price includes a babysitting assistant, food and drink.

Kiddies Holiday Camp
Sasakwe, 30 minutes outside of Gaborone
21st-22nd April, 28th-29th April, and 5th-6th May
There’s nothing better than getting children outdoors for nature play, so for older or confident children this looks like an amazing experience. These weekend camping trips include trail walks, cloud watching, cultural games and much more. Children depart early Saturday morning and return Sunday afternoon and spend the weekend in nature in Sasakwe. The cost is P650 which includes transport and food. Jack and Jill
G-West Phase 2

The Jack and Jill Team offer an all-rounded program to keep your busy children entertained and happy during the holiday. It runs from 8am -1pm each day over the whole holidays. They do lots of fun activities during the day like baking, cooking, painting, crafts, dress up, water play, mud play and colouring. Students under age 5, from any nursery school, are welcome to attend.

Malepa Kids Code Camp
LRC International School, Phase 2
25-26th April
The MALEPA Club Kids Code Camp is a code education program designed for children aged between 8 and 12. This event aims at promoting an interest in computer science and tech careers in kids. This looks like a fantastic initiative by a new business in Botswana. P700 total, and it runs from 8am-4pm over the two days.

If you don’t have school-aged children it can be hard to see all of your regular activities shut down when the schools do! Even though SensoBaby’s term has ended and the REWA Education Centre closed, you can meet up with your friends over the holidays with or without the SensoBaby team. SensoBaby is hosting a number of playdates over the holidays. Anyone with an infant or child under the age of 5 is welcome to attend. The cost is P50 for sensory playdates at the Rec.

OT For Children

OT for Children is offering a number of different events over the holidays. These are excellent, specialised activities to keep your children learning new skills and developing their gross motor skills. They have a learn to ride bike program running from 16-20th April. Spaces are limited so it’s essential you reserve a place quickly! From 16-20th April they are also offering a morning holiday group for children between 5- 11 years old. The following week, 23-27th April, is a morning toddlers group for all children between ages of 2-4 years. And finally from 7-11th May they’re hosting a morning holiday group open to toddlers and older children.
